I wonder if there is a public dictionary for mapping used DCs to SCs of SAP.

Why do i want this?

At the moment I try migration of our java SCs from 7.0 to our 7.4 System.

I checked in the SCs itself an dependencies SCs for 7.4, e. g. ENGFACADE

But there were some changes of that libraries, so I find it very hard to resolve all of these Used DCs and map em to the needed SC of SAP.

I have created a new track for portal system 7.4 and moved the latest assembly from source track Portal 7.0 for a software compoent .

I coud import the assmebly with standard compoents without an error. developer says few DC's are missing in the 7.4 track for that software component.

how to analyse this from basis side and rectity the missing DC's problem...what are possble solutions to this issue

I need some help with configuring a track for 7.4 development.

I created a track for 7.4 development and made sure all necessary software components and their dependencies are defined in sld.

As I read lots of documentation on creating tracks on previous versions, the only point that was not covered is as follows:

How do I initially check in some of the necessary SC´s (common ones that are used by custom applications as KMC-CM, EP-BASIS, etc.) into the track.

After I import the development configuration via nwds, I can see all components that I assigned.

But those are empty. May you help me with some hints / documentation on this issue?

Maybe you could tell me the steps I need to follow?

I have installed a brand new NWDI-server based on NW 7.40. Until now everythings fine but one user is unable to login. At the logs there is this error message:

The UME is connected to an LDAP-server. The user is active and not locked. With a copy of this user the person is able to login. Other users with the same rights are able to login too.

I've downloaded NWDS 7.3 (SAP NetWeaver 7.3 SP07 PAT0005) and I'm trying to connect it with my EP (Kernel Version: 7.30.3710.159124.20110824120645). I'm going to Windows -> Preferences -> SAP AS Java and click on Add button.

I'm entering the host instance name and instance number (Instance Number: 56) and, when I click on OK button nothing happens... If I enter a wrong host instance name or a wrong instance number the NWDS shows me an error message. Otherwise, if everything is correct, it just closes the popup window and returns to the SAP AS Java initial screen with no system on it.

I really appreciate any help.

I'm absolutelly new in tis so i need professional's support.

I've installed system with DI component. Used Wizard to deploy NWDI with CMS (as i can see SLD now started, some configuration in DRT and CMS apears also).

Now i have 3 BPM systems (Dev, Q and Prod).

What should i do next?

How to connct this 3 system to use NWDI?

I reading sap help but its not clear for me.

May be sombody have good manuals for starters (idiots)?

I added an existing custom SC as a dependency to other existing custom SC in SLD and then when I go to CMS and try to save the track, I see below error: -

DTR (URL http://jd3db.mycompany.com:50300/dtr) server exception: CONFLICT [(pre||post)-condition failed: x:invalid-name-reservation-data] You can still save the track and ignore all errors.

Could you please let me know how to sort this out?

I checked below notes, but none of them were I found useful: -

Hi Experts,

I have been working at a client place as a Webdynpro Java consultant. Currently we are using NWDS, NWDI and Portal that are running on 7.01 version.

Now the client asked me to test the Webdynpro applications on NWDS 7.31 by importing the DCs from NWDI 7.01 and I tried this. The JDK version is JDK 1.6.0_18 for NWDS 7.31.

The DCs are imported and migrated, but got build errors after migration. I think this is because of deprecated dependencies in NWDS 7.31 version.

Could you please suggest me on how to resolve these errors?

Hello Experts,

I was trying to delete 2 dc from development configuration.

I created a new DTR Client, and deleted the projects.

First project was deleted but I'm having trouble with the second one.

The project was deleted from DEV/inactive but still available in DEV/active.

When I try to delete it, an activity is created but when activating it I'm getting an error:
FAILED: Precondition integrate-of-version-sets-not-allowed check failed.  default at 18:53:46.118

I also tried to delete it by using dtrconsole.
I can see the dc by using 'ldc' but when I try to delete it I'm getting the error:
Error: Error while executing command. Cause: Cannot find DC '---/---' in compartment '---/---' of development configuration '---/---' (---/--- are placeholders).

I don't have any problems deleting other DCs.

So, how can I delete the DC?

J2EE version is 7.31 SP7.

I'm currently flowing the guide by Harald (how to setup NWDI with CM Services...) and have hit an issue when trying to import the SAP required libraries (SCAs) into the development configuration.

Section 3.2 of:

The only difference it seems is that I'm using Deployable Export instead of Source Export for the Development Configuration (CTS System).

I transferred all the SCA files from my PO installation to the inbox of NWDI and along with the extra SCAs I needed which downloaded from SAP.

The synchronize service recognises the files in the inbox and I select import on all the entries.

When i hit synchronize the import fails on the first file and quits, with exception:

DIImport_InvalidFileContentException: The file
D:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in\WDRUNTIME08_0-20009963.SCA cannot be imported, because
it does not fit to the target configuration. Either the file does not contain
any sources or archives or the configuration does not contain the software
component.

PO is version 7.4 SP8

NWDI is 7.4 SP9

We are using PO SLD as the central SLD

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Experts,

I am getting the following errors when I try to open a view/comp. controller in NWDS 7.31.

"Unhandled event loop exception",

"java.lang.StackOverflowError".

Note: I have imported the custom webdynpro DCs from NWDI 7.01 into NWDS 7.31.

Any idea on how to resolve these errors?

We are in the process of updating our Netweaver Portal systems from 7.02 to 7.4

Our systems are NWDI driven since ESS / MSS are modified in our portals.

We were managing them using a single system track where we would develop the components and then transport it to the other environments (through CTS+) of course.

Part of the maintenance of NWDI driven landscape involves Preparation steps before running SUM, where an appropriate track created with the systems marked as runtime systems in the track (and using the option "Integrate with a JSPM scenario" would ensure that these systems are picked as under NWDI control.

I was hoping to understand a bit better how would this work since it seems, I have to create a new track our development only track would not help us achieve this.

Is the information that the system is under NWDI control stored in the Portal database itself? Or is it captured in Stack file generated in solution manager?  If through the stack file then I assume the LMDB in solution manager needs this info from the SLD of the relevant technical system?

I observed there is a phase in the beginning of the SUM where this information is checked by the SUM tool.

If anyone has this information, please let me know ?

Hello everybody!

Currently, we are trying to upgrade our NWDI from 7.0 to 7.31. During the upgrade process of the server that contains DTR, CMS and CBS, in step 5.3 "Configuration - Information Gathering" we get a list of Java components (Target Release Components) with some additional information and the option to either remove these components or to "scan inbox" for component versions for NetWeaver 7.31.

In this list, there are some components with a component name that matches the application name of some (not all) applications we developed (like anlUsrWD in the heavily edited and shortened screenshot below):

My question is: What exactly do these items (those that match some of our self-developed applications) in this list represent ? Are they essential for CBS, CMS or DTR ?

A long time ago, this server was used as a test portal server. Maybe these are leftovers from past deployments that can be deleted, but maybe they are needed on this server and our build and deploy processes will no longer work without them, maybe even DTR will no longer work. We are in no way sure of what we have to do with them.

Can anyone help ?

with this I was able to see all the DCs and under SC.

3) Now renaming DC using below command

dc> renamedc –c <vendor-Name>_<SCName> –n test/wd/ui/soreprt –v <vendor-name> –nn test/wd/ui/matreprt –nv <vendor-name> –an "ACT_REPORTNAME CHANGING"

When I excecute above line of command I face below  error.

I’m new to NWDI and am trying to set it up so a developer can make an ESS modification.  I have used the NW 7.4 configuration wizard and am trying to use the “NWDI Cookbook for XSS Customers” as a reference.  I am stuck at the step of importing Software Components into my Track.

Information & tasks I’ve completed:

• We recently upgraded from NW 7.31 to NW 7.4 and our SAP ESS Component is at 633.
• SLD is already configured and NWDI is installed
• I have executed the Functional Unit Development Infrastructure configuration wizard “NWDI using CMS”.  The steps included:
  • Configuring AS Java
  • Setting Up Privileges, Roles, and Groups
  • Preparing the System Landscape Directory (SLD)
  • Setting Up the Name Service
  • Creating a Software Component in the SLD
  • Configuring the CBS Server
  • Preparing CMS – Configuring a Domain, Creating a Development Track
• I used the configuration template  for creating a new application skeleton
• I added Software Component SAP_ESS 633 to my Development Track and the following SCs were automatically added:
  • ENGFACADE 7.30
  • ENGINEAPI 7.30
  • EP_BUILDT 7.30
  • FRAMEWORK 7.30
  • J2EE-FRMW 7.30
  • SAPPCUI_GP 7.30
  • SAP_BUILDT 7.30
  • SERVERCORE 7.30
  • WD-RUNTIME 7.30
  • WD-RUNTIME-EXT 7.30

If I understand correctly, my next step is to download the Software Component archives and import them into my track.

My question: Why are the SCs added to my track version 7.30 and not version 7.40?  Do I actually need to find and download the 7.30 versions of these SCs?

Hello Experts,

I try to set up the NWDI for our java portal and CE systems. As far as I can recall the following things have been done in the past (I am relatively new in my company):

-    NWDI had been installed

-    Tracks have already been created and can be used in NWDS

     (therefore SLD Components and dependencies have been created / configured)

If I want to use the NWDI to deploy to out portal systems, I need to set up some kind of transport mechanism.

Thus far I read a lot of NWDI starting guides, but I am unable to exactly point the step I need to do next on my route to enable the transport mechanism.

I am currently trying to enable the transports for SAP NW 7.4 portals, so I should be using the CM Services instead of the CMS.

When I open the CM Services link on NWDI start page, I see there are no Development Configurations of Type CTS System configured.

Now I have a problem understanding the term development configuration, because I am already able to import development configurations in NWDS (the already defined tracks).

Could you please tell me the difference between those two?

Is it different Transport Mechanisms they belong to or what part did I miss?

Can you suggest further steps to enable the automatic transport / deployment on our portal systems?
